    Geography & Economy

    Location

    Kagarko Local Government is strategically located as the "Gateway to Kaduna State" from the nation's capital. It shares vital borders with the FCT (Abuja), making it a critical hub for the supply of agricultural produce to the capital city. This prime location, coupled with highly fertile lands and a favorable moisture profile, has made Ginger and Yam production the backbone of our economy.

    Climate

    Kagarko enjoys a tropical climate with moderate temperatures. The high rainfall in the southern part of the LGA supports the growth of root crops and forest-based agriculture.

    Main Economic Activities

    • Farming: Leading producer of Ginger, Turmeric, and Yams in Nigeria.
    • Livestock Rearing: Significant cattle and poultry populations.
    • Trading: The Iddah Market and Kagarko Central Market are major commercial hubs for traders from Abuja and the North.
